What is the per capita income of Gurgaon?
Gurugram district's per capita income is ₹6,81,085, according to the district figures Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini cited at a press conference reported on 15 February 2026. The state did not say which financial year those district estimates refer to, so treat the number as the latest published district figure rather than a 2025-26 reading. It is the highest of any Haryana district by a wide margin.
Faridabad is a distant second at ₹3,28,083, then Panipat at ₹2,81,365 and Panchkula at ₹2,42,541. Nuh sits at the bottom with ₹68,848, which makes Gurugram's figure close to ten times Nuh's. The Tribune reported the same divide in January 2026 from the state government's vision document, which put Gurugram at nine times Nuh.
A word on what this measures. District per capita income is district domestic product divided by population. It counts the output of every office tower in Cyber City and every car plant in Manesar, much of it earned by people who commute in from Delhi and elsewhere. It is a measure of how much economic activity the district generates per head, not what a typical Gurgaon household takes home.

Haryana per capita income 2025-26 and how it compares with India
Haryana's per capita income reached ₹3,95,618 at current prices in 2025-26, up from ₹3,58,171 in 2024-25, according to the Economic Survey of Haryana 2025-26 tabled in March 2026. The survey put state GSDP at ₹13,67,769 crore for 2025-26, growing 11.8%.
The 2024-25 number has moved since it was first published. The Economic Survey of Haryana 2024-25 had the advance estimate at ₹3,53,182, against an all-India figure of ₹2,05,579 at current prices. Revisions like this are normal, which is why we always quote the latest survey.
The long series shows how far the state has pulled ahead. Per capita income at current prices rose from ₹1,64,963 in 2015-16 to ₹3,53,182 in 2024-25, and Haryana has stayed well above the national average every year. Gurugram is the main reason. Former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda argued in March 2026 that the state figure is pulled up by Gurugram, Faridabad and Manesar, and a state official responded that it is simply GSDP divided by population, as for every state.

Average salary in Gurgaon: what the published reports say
No government body publishes an average salary for Gurgaon, and we will not quote a number from salary-aggregator websites, whose figures come from self-reported entries. What is published is pay growth. TeamLease Services' survey of 1,308 businesses across 23 industries and 20 cities, released in July 2025, projected an average increment of 10.1% in Gurugram for FY26, level with Bengaluru.
Within that, TeamLease flagged sales executives in Gurugram at a projected 12.4% rise, among the highest role-level increments in its survey. Across India it expected increments of 6.2% to 11.3% by sector.
For a buyer, the practical point is this. Household income, not the district average, decides what you can borrow. Banks typically cap EMIs at a share of take-home pay, so a couple earning well above the district figure is still the norm for the ₹2 to ₹5 crore homes that dominate new launches. Our home loan guide works through the numbers.
How many millionaires live in Gurgaon?
Gurugram has 10,100 millionaire households, defined by Hurun as families with net worth of at least ₹8.5 crore, according to the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 released in September 2025. That puts it ninth among Indian cities and first among what Hurun calls emerging hubs, ahead of Surat at 5,700 and Jaipur at 4,800.
New Delhi has 68,200 such households and Mumbai 1,42,000, out of 8,71,700 nationally. Hurun recorded 91% growth in Haryana's millionaire households since 2021 and named Gurugram as the centre of that rise. Haryana's income tax collections equal about 7% of its GSDP in Hurun's analysis, behind only Maharashtra, Delhi and Karnataka, which tells you how much of Gurugram's income is formal salaried and business income.
At the very top, Knight Frank's Wealth Report 2026 counts 19,877 people in India worth US$30 million or more and expects 25,217 by 2031. Knight Frank does not publish a Gurugram count, but this is the pool that buys on Golf Course Road and in DLF's newest launches.

How many expats live in Gurgaon?
There is no official published count of foreign nationals living in Gurgaon. Foreigners staying more than 180 days register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, but the Bureau of Immigration does not release district-level residence numbers, and the last Census was taken in 2011. We looked for a figure from the state, the police or a research firm and did not find one we could verify, so we are not giving one.
What we can say from experience: the expat population is concentrated in DLF Phase 1 to 5, Golf Course Road and Sector 54, close to the multinational offices in Cyber City and on Golf Course Road, and many corporate leases are signed by the employer. Knight Frank's research lists expatriates and senior executives of multinationals among the buyer base for the ultra-luxury segment, though again without a number.
If an official count is published we will add it here. Until then, be wary of any article that gives a precise expat number for Gurgaon without naming a government source.
What Gurgaon incomes mean for property prices
The median starting price across the 87 Gurgaon projects we track is ₹2.94 crore, and 76% of them start at ₹2 crore or more. Set that against the district's per capita income of ₹6,81,085 and an entry-level home on our list costs about 43 years of average per-head output. Against the Haryana average it is about 74 years.
Those ratios look extreme, and they would be if the buyers were average earners. They are not. Gurgaon's luxury market runs on the top slice: the 10,100 millionaire households, senior corporate staff, business owners from Delhi and NRIs. That is why prices here have kept rising even though the district average would suggest homes are unaffordable.
The flip side is that the market depends on a narrow group. If you are buying to rent out, check that the tenant pool for your tower, usually corporate staff, is deep enough at your target rent.

Frequently asked questions

No official count is published. The Bureau of Immigration does not release district-level figures for foreign residents, so any precise number you see online should be treated with caution unless it names a government source.
Per head, Gurugram district's income of ₹6,81,085 is far above Haryana's ₹3,95,618 for 2025-26. In absolute wealth, New Delhi is much larger, with 68,200 millionaire households against Gurugram's 10,100 in Hurun's 2025 count.
Because the figure divides all economic output in the district, including Cyber City offices and Manesar's factories, by the resident population. Many workers commute in from Delhi and elsewhere, which pushes the per head figure above what typical households earn.
How we compiled these figures
District and state income figures come from the Economic Survey of Haryana 2024-25 (Department of Economic and Statistical Affairs, Haryana) and from news reports of the 2025-26 survey and of district data cited by the Chief Minister in February 2026. Per capita income here means net state or district domestic product per person at current prices, not household take-home income. Wealth figures come from the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 and the Knight Frank Wealth Report 2026 as reported by Business Standard and ANI. Salary growth is TeamLease Services' FY26 projection. We could not find an official count of foreign nationals in Gurgaon and have not estimated one. The property price comparison uses the starting price of each of the 87 projects on curatedhomes.in, taking the lower end of each listed range. We review this page quarterly and when the next Economic Survey of Haryana is published.
